What is the working principle of reach forklift

The key difference between reach forklift and a balanced forklift is that the gantry (or slide) can extend and retract horizontally along the guide rails on the support legs, driven by hydraulic cylinders; When picking up goods, extend forward and retract while driving, allowing the center of gravity of the goods to fall within the support area formed by the two front legs and the chassis, without the need for a large rear counterweight, suitable for high-level storage in narrow passages
Main structure
1. Two front legs and leg wheels: form a stable support base, with the legs being higher and unable to be inserted under the tray;
2. Forward moving door frame assembly: The outer door frame is fixed to the chassis, and the inner door frame/slide frame with a fork can slide forward and backward;
3. Two sets of hydraulic cylinders
Forward hydraulic cylinder: controls the horizontal extension and retraction of the gantry (core action);
Lifting cylinder+chain: drives the fork to lift up and down; There is also a tilt cylinder to adjust the angle of the valve frame;
4. Drive steering unit: mostly rear wheel drive+rear wheel steering, battery powered.

1. The forklift is parked in front of the shelf without moving the body of the vehicle;
2. Manipulate the forward valve, push out the forward cylinder, slide the entire gantry forward, and extend the fork to the front of the leg wheel;
3. The lifting cylinder lifts the fork to the height of the pallet and inserts it into the pallet;
4. The fork lifts the goods slightly, moves them after operation, and the gantry pulls the goods back between the two legs;
At this point, the center of gravity of the goods falls within the support surface, allowing the forklift to safely drive and turn;
6. After reaching the target position, move the door frame forward again, release the goods, draw the fork, and retract the door frame.
Two forms of subdivision
Front moving gantry (mainstream): The entire gantry moves forward and backward together;
Fork slide forward type: The door frame does not move, only the fork slide extends forward independently.
Simple comparison with ordinary balanced forklift
A balanced forklift uses the rear counterweight to counteract the torque of the cargo in front of it; The forward moving type achieves stability by allowing the goods to fall within the support range after retrieval. The vehicle body is short, the passage requirements are smaller, and the lifting height is higher. However, the ground requirements are flat, and it is generally only used in indoor warehouses.
